APC Convention Faces Protest Threat

In Abuja on Tuesday, local contractors resumed protests and warned they could disrupt the upcoming APC national convention over unpaid debts.

The group said its members are owed huge sums by the Federal Government, leaving many businesses struggling to survive.

The protest is tied to growing frustration over delays in settling long-standing obligations.

The All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria, led by Jackson Nwosu, demanded the release of N150bn within 48 hours.

He said the money is part of earlier promises made after protests between December 2025 and January 2026.

He added that only N21bn has been paid so far, leaving over N1tn still unpaid.

Nwosu warned that failure to meet the demand would lead to a protest at the APC convention venue.

He said “For AICAN members, the government has only paid N21bn between this period in question.

What is remaining to be paid is over N1tn, but what we are discussing as the immediate payment we need is N150bn.

He also claimed the total debt stands at about N1.15tn and warned the association would resist any move to shift payments to another agency.
