A faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to quickly enforce a court ruling recognising a new leadership for the party.

The demand follows a recent judgment by a court in Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court ordered INEC to recognise the National Working Committee led by Agbo Major.

The court also directed the commission to update its records within a set timeframe to reflect the leadership change.

Party officials insist there is no legal barrier stopping INEC from carrying out the order, noting that no stay of execution has been granted.

They also criticised the commission for still engaging with another faction despite the ruling.

The group urged members to stay calm and continue party activities nationwide, expressing confidence ahead of future elections.

It also maintained that previously expelled members remain out, while welcoming back those willing to return.
