Turaki Led PDP Disowns Exco Dissolution

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Tanimu Turaki has asked members to ignore reports claiming that the party’s executive committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states have been dissolved.

The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said in a statement issued in Abuja that the alleged dissolution was illegal and could undermine ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party.

According to him, the move is null and should not be recognised by party members or the public.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State chapter of the party also dismissed the claim that its State Executive Committee had been dissolved.
Speaking at a press conference in Akure, the state chairman, Dupe Aisida, described the directive circulating on social media as misleading and lacking constitutional backing.
He said the state leadership had not received any official communication from the national leadership of the party regarding such a decision.
Aisida explained that the current executives emerged through congresses conducted in line with the party’s constitution and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the police and the Department of State Services.
