Ex Eagles Captain Demands For NFF Resignation
Former John Obi Mikel has called for the resignation of officials of the Nigeria Football Federation after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking as a pundit on talkSPORT, Mikel described the country’s absence from the global tournament for the second consecutive time as a major setback for Nigerian football.
He said it was unacceptable for a country with Nigeria’s population and football talent to miss the tournament twice in a row, insisting officials responsible for football administration should step down.
Mikel also expressed concern that despite having one of the most talented squads in Africa, the Nigeria national football team failed to secure qualification.
The former midfielder further warned that while countries like Morocco national football team are improving their football structures, Nigeria risks falling behind if urgent reforms are not carried out.
