UNILAG Stands Firm On Exams
The University of Lagos has rejected the strike action declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, saying the planned examinations will still go ahead as scheduled.
The university management made its position known shortly after the union announced an indefinite withdrawal of services.
School authorities said the institution remains committed to maintaining its academic calendar and ensuring that students are not disrupted by the disagreement between the union and the administration.
The dispute began after members of the union protested what they described as reduced salaries paid for January and February.
The lecturers had earlier announced that they would stop work until the university settles the outstanding payments in full.
Despite the tension, the university maintained that preparations for examinations are already in place and urged students to continue with their studies while the issues raised by the union are being addressed.
