Security agencies were visible at polling units, and electoral officials carried out their duties without major disruption.

Despite the peaceful setting, many polling centres recorded fewer voters than expected.

Several units had long stretches of inactivity, with only a small number of residents turning up to cast their ballots.

The minister said the calm conduct of the election was encouraging for democracy in the FCT, but added that greater participation from residents is needed to strengthen local governance in future polls.
