Voters were left stranded on Saturday at a polling unit in the Federal Capital Territory after officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission arrived with the wrong Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machine.

The mix-up reportedly occurred when election officials deployed a BVAS device configured for a different polling unit, making it impossible to accredit waiting voters.

Residents who had gathered before 8am were forced to wait as efforts were made to resolve the issue.

Frustration grew among voters as the delay stretched on, with some expressing fears that the error could affect turnout.

Electoral officers were seen making calls and attempting to arrange a replacement device to restore the process.

Voting eventually stalled at the affected centre while corrections were underway, raising fresh concerns about logistics and coordination in parts of the territory.
