An Ekiti governorship hopeful, Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi, has accused officers of the Rapid Response Squad in Ekiti of storming a private home in Abuja, attacking her son and taking him away.

In a statement dated February 20, 2026, she expressed “grave concerns over the alleged unlawful invasion of a private residence in Abuja, by officers identified as members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Ekiti Division.”

She said witnesses claimed armed officers climbed over the fence without legal backing.

She further claimed he “was brutalised, sustaining visible injuries with blood gushing from his body before he was forcefully taken away,” and that his whereabouts are still unknown.

She alleged the action was politically driven and carried out “on the directive of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Senator Yemi Adaramodu, because of political differences, which is before the court.”

She urged President Tinubu to “immediately order a federal investigation into this incident,” and appealed to the First Lady to step in “in the interest of justice and protection of human rights.”

She also called on authorities and foreign missions to watch the case, stressing that “Nigeria is governed by law, not by impunity.”
