Abuja Braces For Area Council Polls

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory will head to the polls tomorrow to elect chairmen and councillors across the six area councils.

The exercise is expected to shape grassroots leadership and local development in Abuja.

The elections will take place across polling units in Abaji, Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali. Electoral officials and security agencies say arrangements have been finalised to ensure a smooth process.

Authorities earlier declared a work-free day and placed movement restrictions to allow residents travel and vote without disruption.

Security personnel have been deployed to maintain order throughout the exercise.

Voters are urged to turn out early, follow guidelines at polling centres, and cast their ballots peacefully as the FCT chooses its next set of local leaders.
