His decision followed reported intervention by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Adamu stepped down in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa, a move that has stirred political discussions within the council and beyond.
Party supporters were caught off guard as preparations for the polls intensified.
The development is seen as part of broader political realignments in the FCT, where alliances and negotiations continue to shape the contest across area councils.
Stakeholders say the decision could influence voting patterns in Bwari.
Attention now turns to how opposition members and grassroots supporters will respond as campaigns gather pace ahead of the election.
