Gusau Applauds Wike FCT Reforms

Prof Aminu Gusau has applauded Nyesom Wike for what he described as firm leadership and sweeping infrastructure reforms in the Federal Capital Territory.

He spoke on Tuesday in Abuja at the 2026 Annual Distinguished Personality Lecture hosted by the Faculty of Social Sciences at Yakubu Gowon University, where Wike delivered a lecture on political leadership and development.

Gusau, a former top official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and visiting professor at the University of Kansas, said Wike’s time in office since August 2023 has brought visible change.

He noted efforts to restore the Abuja Master Plan, revive abandoned projects and expand key road networks linking the city centre to satellite towns.

He listed projects such as the Apo Wasa Road, upgrades of inner city routes and improvements in Gwagwalada, Kubwa, Bwari and Karu.

According to him, stalled contracts have been completed, development control strengthened and land reforms introduced to improve order and revenue.

He added that better street lighting and sanitation have also improved safety and the look of the city.

Gusau said leadership often demands tough choices and steady resolve.

Drawing from his years abroad, he argued that effective leaders act on their intentions and deliver clear results.

He maintained that Wike’s record in Rivers State and now in the FCT shows a focus on execution, adding that governance should be judged by completed projects and real impact on daily life.
