Oyebamiji, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterway Authority, emerged in December 2025 as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

The banner had implied institutional support for his ambition.

In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, the management described the claim as false and misleading.

The school maintained that as a federal institution, it does not endorse or align with any political party or candidate.

The university added that while staff and students are free to hold personal political views, such opinions do not represent the institution.

It urged the public to ignore the banner and any attempt to drag the school into partisan matters, reaffirming its commitment to neutrality and academic integrity.
