NSCDC Under Fire Over N238m Deputy Commandant Residence

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps spent N238 million in 2025 on a residence for its Deputy Commandant General, according to records on the public payments portal, Govspend.

Data reviewed show that on February 14, 2025, three separate payments of N79.6 million each were made to Almat Engineering, Bonita Bay Limited and Gold Reef Consult Limited for the construction of a four bedroom duplex with boys quarters at Kings Park Estate along Airport Road.

The spending has drawn attention as it comes amid complaints from personnel over delayed salaries and unpaid promotion arrears.

Several serving officers, who spoke anonymously, said welfare issues within the corps have become routine and have lowered morale.

Some officers alleged that salaries are often delayed, inconsistently paid or short paid without explanation.

Others claimed that payment has become selective in recent months, with certain personnel reportedly yet to receive salaries for December 2025 and January 2026 at the time of reporting.

There were also claims of unpaid wage allowances and promotion entitlements, as well as concerns about disparities in payment timelines across banks.

Sources warned that unless addressed, the situation could further weaken confidence within the organisation.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from the NSCDC management regarding the expenditure or the welfare concerns raised by officers.
