The move targets long-neglected areas such as Karu, Karshi, Bwari and Kubwa, with officials linking the projects to wider growth and better access.

The plan was outlined during an inspection tour of ongoing works, where the FCT Minister said the road push followed a presidential directive to extend durable transport links beyond the city centre.

The goal is to correct years of uneven development and open up fast-growing districts to business and investment.

A major focus is the stalled Apo–Karshi road, which has now been revived after its contract was terminated and reassigned to speed up delivery.

Attention has also turned to the Bwari–Kubwa corridor, a 16 to 17 kilometre stretch expected to ease traffic and drive trade along the route.

Authorities say several of the projects are due for completion before year end, with added plans for landscaping and environmental upgrades to improve living conditions.
