The warning comes amid rising tension over disruptions linked to labour actions and absenteeism, which have slowed services and affected residents and businesses within the capital.

Wike said the FCT cannot afford continued shutdowns that cripple governance and daily life.

He directed heads of departments and agencies to ensure strict monitoring of attendance, stressing that workers who fail to resume work will be sanctioned in line with civil service rules.

According to him, government salaries must match actual service, not prolonged absence.

The minister added that his administration remains committed to workers’ welfare but insisted that dialogue must not be used as cover for abandoning duty posts.

He said order and productivity must return if the capital is to function properly.
