In documents before the court, Malami stated that his wealth came from different sources over the years, including earnings from public service, private business activities and personal gifts received from friends.

He disclosed that he earned about N374 million as salaries while serving in government, made N10.17 billion from business ventures, and received N958 million in gifts, maintaining that none of the funds were tied to illegal dealings.

The former minister argued that the seizure order was based on wrong assumptions and urged the court to restore his rights to the properties, as the case continues.
