PDP Shows Support For Turaki Leadership
The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party has declared firm backing for Kabiru Turaki and the National Working Committee despite the recent Federal High Court judgment delivered in Ibadan.
The position was made public on Saturday through a statement signed by forum chairman Tony Aziegbemi and secretary Edward Masha on behalf of chairmen from 30 states.
The state chairmen said they reviewed the court ruling alongside the response of the party leadership and resolved to stand with the leadership that emerged from the Ibadan National Convention.
They pledged total solidarity and support for Turaki and the NWC, insisting the structure remains intact and functional across the states.
According to the forum, the judgment raised legal concerns as the court declined an order of mandamus but went ahead to grant reliefs that were “neither prayed for nor canvassed by any of the parties before the court.”
The chairmen also said the ruling appeared to clash with decisions of courts of equal authority on the same issue.
They said the party had rightly filed an appeal and sought a stay of execution, noting that the matter is still before the Court of Appeal.
