Wike Sends Warning To JUAC

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, cautioned workers under the Joint Union Action Committee over continued defiance of a court order.

He said the strike dispute remains before the court and warned that ignoring judicial directives carries clear consequences.

The warning was delivered became clear on Thursday during the handover of 12 newly procured ambulances to public hospitals across the FCT.

The minister used the occasion to respond directly to actions taken by union leaders who have continued to push for industrial action despite an injunction.

The issue escalated was explained as Wike addressed claims surrounding the appeal process. He said, “the mere fact that I file notice of appeal does not automatically mean there is a stay of execution,” adding that refusal to obey court orders pushes the country towards disorder.

He warned, however, that turning labour disputes into political battles would attract a political response from the government.
What else has changed under the current administration was also highlighted.

Wike said reforms have improved career progression for FCTA staff, noting that workers who once retired as directors can now rise to permanent secretary and Head of Service.

He added that the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission under President Bola Tinubu has further strengthened the system, while assuring workers that unresolved issues are being tackled step by step.
