Gombe State Uni Confirms Attack On Female Student

A final-year female student of Gombe State University was attacked by an unknown intruder inside a female hostel in the early hours of Monday, prompting concern across the campus.

The incident happened at one of the university’s female hostels during the academic break, when the student was preparing for her project defence and most students were away from school activities.

University security personnel moved in shortly after the attack was reported, securing the hostel and ensuring that no other students were harmed.

Senior officials of the institution, including the Vice-Chancellor, later visited the scene to assess the situation.

The student sustained injuries to her hands while trying to protect herself during the attack. She was immediately given medical attention and the university confirmed that her condition is stable.

The management of Gombe State University said steps are already being taken to tighten security on campus, assuring students, parents and staff that the safety of the university community remains a priority.
