A former All Progressives Congress presidential hopeful, Adamu Garba, has advised party members to be cautious in celebrating the defection of Abba, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.

Garba described the move as troubling, raising concerns about loyalty and family values.
Abba formally joined the APC at a ceremony in Abuja, where he was welcomed by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and other party leaders from the North-East.

In response, Atiku Abubakar described his son’s decision as a personal political choice and stressed that it was normal for family members to make independent decisions in a democracy. He clarified that he does not interfere with the political conscience of his children or Nigerians.
The former vice president reaffirmed his commitment to building a credible opposition coalition and promoting good governance, insisting that his focus remains on offering Nigerians a platform for progress, relief, and democratic accountability.
