Obi Criticizes Tinubu Over Silence And Absence

Peter Obi has accused President Bola Tinubu of failing to show leadership at a time Nigeria is facing severe hardship, saying the country is being left without clear direction amid rising poverty, hunger and insecurity.
He made the comments in a statement shared on X on Monday, reacting to what he described as the President’s long absence and lack of direct communication while millions of Nigerians struggle with daily survival.

Obi said Nigeria is on course to become the country with the highest number of people living in extreme poverty this year, while unemployment among young people, worsening violence and high infant deaths continue to stretch families and communities.
He pointed out that Tinubu reportedly spent much of 2025 outside the country and has not addressed Nigerians since December, adding that citizens entered the new year without a national message despite growing fear and uncertainty.

According to Obi, leadership demands physical presence and open communication, warning that governing from abroad and relying on aides or foreign reports weakens trust and leaves the nation exposed during critical moments.
