A group within the All Progressives Congress has warned party leaders not to rely on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for support ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The Oyo State APC Professionals said Fubara was not sincere with his public posture toward the party, accusing him of secretly backing an APC faction loyal to former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi.
In a statement issued after a meeting on Sunday, the group’s chief convener, Adekunle Lawal, claimed Fubara had been funding the Emeka Beke-led APC faction in Rivers, which he said answers to Amaechi.

The group pointed to recent comments by the faction’s spokesperson during the ongoing impeachment crisis involving the governor as proof of that backing.
The group argued that Fubara’s alleged support for Amaechi-linked figures raised doubts about his loyalty to Tinubu, noting that Amaechi and former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola are now associated with the African Democratic Congress.

It also raised concerns about Fubara’s political circle, claiming many of his close allies are linked to former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who is also connected to the ADC.
The APC Professionals urged the party’s national leadership to be cautious, describing Fubara as a politician seeking protection within the APC amid his dispute with his predecessor and current FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
