As governor from 2015 to 2023, Wike led statewide campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections, mobilising support across Rivers communities.
Those campaigns delivered wide results. Rivers produced an executive governor, three senators, eleven members of the House of Representatives, 32 members of the State House of Assembly, and several state and federal appointments, including a minister.

The elections also helped secure national power at the centre.
Beyond offices won, the outcomes brought clear benefits to the state. These include the establishment of the Federal University of Environment and Technology in Ogoniland, progress on the Eleme axis of the East-West Road, and the completion of the Bodo-Bonny corridor, a key economic route.

Returning to thank the people who stood by his political direction is both strategic and symbolic. As the political leader of Rivers State, Wike’s actions reflect the principle of gratitude, echoed in Luke 17:11–19. Many beneficiaries of the 2023 elections are yet to acknowledge their supporters, even as they seek another mandate. Leadership, by nature and by moral order, demands appreciation of the people whose sacrifices made power possible.
