Support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid gained fresh momentum in Rivers State on Tuesday as the Rivers Elders Council aligned with the Renewed Hope Family led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The endorsement came in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area during Wike’s thank-you visit, where elders, lawmakers, and local leaders gathered to signal early political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

Council chairman Ferdinand Alabraba said the decision was driven by the belief that backing Tinubu in 2023 brought stability and benefits to Rivers State, adding that staying on that path remained the best option.
He described Wike as a unifying political figure whose leadership style helped manage Rivers’ diverse ethnic makeup, noting that the Renewed Hope Family had become a bridge between members of the PDP and APC in the state.

Wike, in his response, said the visit was to thank the people for years of support and praised Rivers for hosting a rare coalition where major parties work together, stressing that the focus had shifted from party lines to sustaining the Renewed Hope agenda.
