The protest followed the release of a provisional list by the Independent National Electoral Commission that did not include PDP candidate Wole Oluyede, a move that sparked anger within the party and raised concerns among other opposition groups.

Party supporters gathered at the INEC state office in Ado Ekiti, carrying placards and chanting as they demanded the reversal of the decision, insisting the party met all legal requirements to contest the poll.
The controversy quickly spread beyond the PDP as opposition parties under the Inter Party Advisory Council warned they may boycott the election if the exclusion is not corrected, arguing that the move could weaken trust in the process.

IPAC leaders said their findings showed the PDP followed due process during its primary election, while party officials accused unnamed political interests of trying to force Ekiti into a one-party system.
INEC officials at the state level said the matter was beyond their control, advising the PDP to take its complaint to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja as political tension continues to build ahead of the election.
