A suspended lawmaker in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saba Gideon, has spoken out against his three-month suspension, denying claims that he secretly recorded House proceedings and insisting the action violates the Constitution.

Gideon, who represents Edu State Constituency, addressed journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, saying he never recorded any closed-door meeting or shared audio with anyone, contrary to claims made by the Assembly.

The suspension followed a plenary session held on December 19, 2025, where lawmakers accused him of contempt and breach of legislative privilege, leading to an immediate decision to bar him from legislative duties for three months.
He argued that the punishment was unlawful, stating that suspending an elected representative denies voters their right to representation and goes beyond what the law allows for legislative discipline.
