Residents of Ayetoro Kiri in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State are mourning after three community members died following their abduction by bandits, despite ransom payments made by families and neighbours.

The victims were among several people taken during repeated attacks on the community. After money was raised through joint efforts and handed over to the abductors, seven people were released. Three of them were confirmed dead on arrival, while four others were rushed to hospitals and are receiving treatment.
The tragedy happened along with a growing crisis in the area, as about 30 other residents remain in captivity.
