The governor confirmed his decision through a resignation letter dated December 29, ahead of his formal entry into the APC scheduled for today, a move that further weakens the PDP’s grip in the state.
The switch takes place in Plateau State, with activities lined up at the Government House in Rayfield and the APC secretariat in Jos, where party leaders and supporters are expected to receive him.
Mutfwang said his choice was driven by the need for a political platform that better supports his plans for growth, unity, and effective service delivery for the people of Plateau.

He explained that joining the APC would place the state in closer working alignment with the Federal Government, which he believes will speed up development and improve access to national programmes.
The defection follows weeks of speculation and comes as PDP leaders voice strong criticism of the Tinubu administration, warning that voter anger and economic hardship could shape the 2027 elections.
