Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, on Wednesday accused Peter Obi of misleading his supporters after defecting from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

Keyamo said the move happened in Enugu during a political gathering where Obi announced his decision to join the ADC alongside several opposition figures, including former Senate President David Mark.
According to the minister, the defection was not about building a fresh political movement but part of a private arrangement with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he claimed owns and controls the ADC structure.

Keyamo alleged that Obi had already agreed to serve as Atiku’s running mate and was only keeping his supporters hopeful about a presidential bid to prevent backlash before the party primaries.
He argued that many Obi supporters would feel betrayed once the vice-presidential plan becomes public, adding that anyone seeking high office must expect close public scrutiny.
Keyamo said the ruling APC is not threatened by the opposition alliance, insisting that Nigerians would judge all contenders at the polls in 2027 based on their records and political choices.
