Fuel retailers across Nigeria are reporting weak sales days after Dangote Refinery rolled out petrol nationwide at N739 per litre through MRS filling stations.
The complaints are coming mainly from major and independent marketers whose stations are still selling above N825 per litre, while MRS outlets have adjusted their pumps to the new price.

The situation is most visible in Lagos, where MRS stations in areas such as Ikeja, Alapere, Abule Egba and along Ikorodu Road are crowded with long queues, while nearby stations selling at higher prices remain quiet.
Retailers say the sudden price drop has hurt their turnover, leaving attendants idle as motorists flock to cheaper outlets. Industry groups warn that frequent price changes are putting pressure on marketers who already operate on thin margins.

Dangote Refinery says the nationwide pricing is part of its plan to make petrol affordable and keep supply steady during the festive season, with about 50 million litres available daily through more than 2,000 MRS stations.
The refinery has urged marketers to adjust their prices and warned against hoarding or supply manipulation, while advising motorists to buy only at approved rates to enjoy the benefits of locally refined fuel.
