He spoke after reports of a parallel governorship primary allegedly held by the Accord Party, which he described as fake and lacking legal backing.

Akindele said the move followed Adeleke’s decision to join the Accord Party after internal issues in the PDP, a step he claimed reflects the wishes of Osun residents who support the governor’s leadership.

He explained that the disputed exercise was not recognised by electoral authorities and came days after Adeleke emerged as the sole governorship candidate through a process overseen by the party’s national leadership.
According to him, the governor continues to enjoy wide backing from workers and residents across the state, noting that salaries are still being paid despite funding challenges at the local government level.
Akindele added that voters are focused on performance rather than party labels, saying Adeleke’s record in health, education and infrastructure has kept public support firmly on his side.
