Kwara North Pushes For 2027 Governorship

APC leaders and governorship hopefuls from Kwara North met in Ilorin to agree on a united plan to ensure the zone produces the next governor in 2027.

The gathering took place at the home of Senator Mohammed Ahmed, one of the leading figures from the district.

The meeting brought together stakeholders from all five local government areas in the zone. At the end of the discussions, they tasked the convener with linking up with other groups working toward the same goal so the movement can run under one organised structure.

Participants pointed to the role played by traditional rulers, youth groups, and elders from Kwara North who have been pushing for the governorship seat to shift to the area. They said their efforts have kept the demand active and growing.

Aspirants were urged to run their early campaign activities calmly and with unity. They were also told to avoid internal fights or any behaviour that could damage the collective ambition.

All aspirants at the meeting agreed to support one another as the race moves forward. They pledged to work together to strengthen the district’s chances of securing the governorship slot.

The group also decided to form an all-inclusive committee to coordinate the activities of different bodies pursuing the same target. They said this would help the district move with one voice and improve the chances of success.

Stakeholders ended the meeting by noting the efforts of both state and federal authorities to respond to recent bandit attacks and kidnappings in parts of Kwara North and South. They said the improved security response was appreciated by the communities affected.
