Former Kano governor and ex-APC chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has taken aim at the Kano State Government after it demanded his arrest over comments linked to the creation of a militia group.

His media team said the call lacked substance and was driven by politics.

The row started when Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration accused Ganduje of making a statement about plans to recruit thousands of Hisbah operatives. The government claimed the comment could deepen insecurity and pressed for his arrest and investigation.

Ganduje rejected the allegation and said the governor was trying to use him as a cover for rising security problems across the state. He pointed to recent attacks in Bagwai, Shanono, Tsanyawa and other communities, saying residents feel unsafe while victims receive little attention from the government.
He defended his own time in office, saying Kano enjoyed steady peace throughout his eight-year tenure. He compared that period to the current situation, which he described as poorly managed and lacking clear direction.
Ganduje insisted he has never supported violence or any move that could disturb the state. He called on the governor to concentrate on protecting lives and restoring public confidence instead of making public accusations.
He said real leadership relies on action and a sense of duty, not media briefings aimed at shifting blame or steering attention away from rising insecurity.
