Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, is reportedly considering a new political home as the 2026 governorship election draws closer.

The concern was raised by the Peoples Democratic Party’s Deputy National Vice Chairman for the Southwest, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, during a radio programme monitored on Monday.

Ajisafe said the deepening crisis within the PDP has left the party unable to present a candidate for next year’s election. He noted that the situation mirrors the party’s troubles in Ekiti, where internal rebellion disrupted its structure and electoral chances.

He explained that the challenge in Osun is more urgent because the state’s governorship election comes earlier than others. With INEC fixing December 15 as the deadline for primaries, he warned that the PDP may miss the window, leaving Adeleke with no party platform to seek re-election.
Ajisafe argued that no incumbent would remain in a party that cannot offer a valid route back to office. He said Adeleke may have no choice but to look for a party where he can legally contest, since the PDP’s internal conflict has stalled preparations.
Political insiders in Osun told Vanguard that Adeleke has already reached out to Accord Party leaders to explore his chances there. Others said discussions with APGA are also possible, as the governor is weighing every option to secure a viable ticket.
The growing uncertainty has fueled speculation across the state, with many waiting to see where the governor will finally land ahead of the August 8, 2026 election.
