The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented certificates of return to Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, following their victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

The certificates were handed over by the Supervising INEC National Commissioner for the election, Kenneth Ikeagu, at the commission’s office in Awka on Tuesday, two days after Soludo was declared winner.

Ikeagu said the presentation was in line with Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates INEC to issue certificates of return within 14 days to candidates duly elected in an election.

Soludo, who contested under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), won all 21 local government areas in the state, polling 422,664 votes. His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.
Out of 2,788,864 registered voters in the state, 598,229 were accredited for the election. A total of 595,298 votes were cast, with 11,244 rejected ballots.
The Returning Officer, Professor Edoba Omoregie of the University of Benin, had on Sunday declared Soludo the winner of the poll.
Soludo and his deputy were accompanied by their wives to the INEC headquarters for the brief presentation ceremony.
