The Gombe State Government has received the operational licence for the establishment of Lincoln University Malaysia, Kumo Campus, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with Lincoln University Malaysia.

Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau led a delegation representing Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya to receive the licence at the National Universities Commission (NUC) headquarters in Abuja. The approval followed the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu through the Federal Ministry of Education.

Jatau, who received the certificate alongside the university’s Founder and Pro-Chancellor, said the new institution will strengthen the state’s vision of becoming the educational hub of the North-East. He thanked President Tinubu, the Minister of Education, and the NUC for their support, pledging that the university would focus on research-driven learning and practical solutions to local challenges.

“Our universities must move beyond theories and focus on solving the problems of our people. The Kumo campus will promote community-based research and innovation,” he said.
Presenting the certificate, NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Yusuf Abdullahi Ribadu congratulated both the state and the Malaysian partners, urging them to uphold high academic standards. He explained that the approval was granted under the Transnational Education (TNE) programme, which permits foreign universities to operate in Nigeria through collaboration.
According to Ribadu, the university will begin academic activities with three faculties — Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Science and Computing, and Management and Social Sciences.
The Gombe delegation included the Founder and President of Lincoln University College Malaysia, Prof. Dato Hajah Bibi Florina Abdullahi; the Vice-Chancellor of Lincoln University Kumo Campus, Prof. Sadiq Adamu; the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta; and former Commissioner for Higher Education, Daufa Batari Zambuk.
