NCS Officer killed In Terrorist Attack On Kebbi

The Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed the death of Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) Sadiq Tahir Muhammad, who was killed by suspected Lakurawa terrorists on Saturday along the Maje axis in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, described the officer’s death as a painful loss to both the Service and the nation. He extended condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of the late officer, describing him as a dedicated and gallant personnel whose service embodied the highest values of the NCS.

The late officer was buried according to Islamic rites at the Makeran Gwandu Cemetery after funeral prayers held at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace. The burial was attended by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, members of the Emirate Council, senior serving and retired Customs officers, and other dignitaries.

Adeniyi has ordered a full-scale investigation into the attack, assuring that the Service is working with other security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice.

While mourning the officer, the NCS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s borders and ensuring the safety of its personnel, vowing not to relent in its duties despite the tragedy.
