The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports of vote-buying in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, describing the allegations as unproven and without evidence.

The clarification came after accusations from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, alongside Labour Party’s George Moghalu and African Action Congress candidate Chioma Ifemeludike, who alleged that voters were offered between ₦3,000 and ₦5,000 in parts of Nnewi South and other polling areas.

Reacting during a live appearance on Channels Television’s News at 10, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra State, Queen Agwu, said the commission had received no verified report of such activities from its officials or accredited observers.

She explained that while INEC takes all electoral offences seriously, allegations must be backed by facts, evidence, and official complaints before any action can be taken.
According to her, monitoring teams in the state’s situation room reported no confirmed cases of bribery or voter inducement throughout the voting process.
The REC urged candidates and political parties to refrain from spreading unverified claims, noting that unsubstantiated allegations could undermine public trust in the electoral system.
