Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the reinstatement of 103 teachers in Zamfara State and ordered the payment of their seven months’ outstanding salaries.

The affected teachers were among 780 civil servants whose salaries were suspended during a statewide verification exercise conducted in January 2025 to clean up the government payroll.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wadatau Madawaki, announced the development on Friday, explaining that the reinstated teachers were cleared after a detailed review showed their suspension resulted from administrative errors and omissions.

He said the Ministry wrote to the governor requesting the teachers’ reinstatement after the verification team confirmed their employment records were genuine. Governor Lawal subsequently approved their return to service and directed the payment of salary arrears covering January to July 2025.
Madawaki said the verification process was designed to ensure transparency and accountability in the state’s workforce. He urged the returning teachers to show renewed dedication to their work and contribute meaningfully to improving education across Zamfara.
The commissioner also warned against misconduct and absenteeism, reminding teachers that the government’s reform efforts were aimed at building a more efficient and responsible public service.
