His Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, confirmed the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday, saying Diri left the party alongside the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, and all PDP lawmakers in the Assembly.

While Alabrah did not disclose Diri’s next political destination, his departure follows rumours of a likely defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Efforts to reach the state PDP chairman, Solomon Agwanana, for comments were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.

Further details are expected as the situation develops.
