The Bauchi State Government has commenced the production of exercise books and chalk for distribution to schools across the state.
The initiative, driven by the Ministry of Education under Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, is being carried out at the Education Resource Centre (ERC) in Bauchi.
Education Commissioner Dr. Muhammed Lawal, who inspected the facility on Friday, said the state was also rebranding old textbooks to give them a fresh look. He noted that the move would reduce dependence on foreign imports and eliminate substandard supplies from unqualified contractors.
Lawal explained that the project was designed to ensure that schools receive durable, locally made learning materials. He added that the production of chalk could eventually be scaled up for distribution to other states as a source of revenue.
During the inspection, ERC Director Kabiru Ahmed praised the staff for their dedication to the project, describing their work as vital to strengthening education in Bauchi State.
