The Oyo State House of Assembly has cautioned its members against using the legislature to seek undue political advantage as the state enters a new political season.

Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, speaking after the Assembly’s six-week recess on Tuesday, said the House would not tolerate acts capable of undermining its legislative business. He stressed that lawmakers must focus on quality representation rather than attempts to win public sympathy through political manoeuvres.

“We are all answerable to our constituents, not the executive or the Assembly. It will be irresponsible to do otherwise. If anyone wants sympathy, they should go back to their people, understand their needs, and push their projects through proper legislative processes,” Ogundoyin said.

The Assembly also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, commending its developmental strides in infrastructure, governance reforms, and local government development.

Ogundoyin closed by reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and diligent service to the people.
