The Delta State Government has dismissed reports of a rift within the executive council, describing them as false claims aimed at distracting the administration from its development plans.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, told journalists in Asaba that no quarrel existed among commissioners, insisting that the stories were fabricated by those seeking to discredit Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s performance.

He stressed that the administration remains focused on delivering projects and empowerment programmes. Among the initiatives currently running are the Rural Youth Skills Acquisition (RYSA) programme, the MORE Biz-Up scheme, women’s empowerment support, ICT training, and girl-child initiatives designed to cushion economic hardship.
Aniagwu also pointed to the recently introduced widows’ welfare scheme, which pays ₦15,000 monthly alongside health insurance. He explained that each of the 10,000 beneficiaries received an initial ₦45,000 payment covering three months.
On infrastructure, he highlighted major projects such as the ₦59.7 billion Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, the ₦39.3 billion Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli, and the ₦35 billion Effurun-Sapele Road dualisation, alongside other ongoing roadworks in Warri, Abraka, and Asaba. School rehabilitation projects are also underway across the state.
Aniagwu said more empowerment programmes would begin in October once the rains recede, allowing the government to channel additional funds into ventures that strengthen the local economy and grow the state’s GDP.
Reaffirming commitment to the MORE Agenda, he maintained that the Oborevwori administration will stay focused on its promises despite what he described as attempts to misinform the public.
