The District Head of Bagaji Odo in Kogi East, HRH David Akpa, who was kidnapped on Monday, has regained his freedom.
His release was confirmed in a statement by Gift Idoga, Press Secretary to the Chairman of Omala Local Government Area, Hon. Edibo Mark.
According to the statement, Akpa was rescued in the early hours of Thursday following the combined efforts of security agencies, local hunters, and vigilante groups.
“The District Head of Bagaji Odo, Chief David Akpa, in Omala LGA was abducted on September 1, 2025, and taken into the bush. Since then, the Executive Chairman of Omala LGA swung into action,” Idoga said.
He added that a joint taskforce comprising hunters, vigilantes, the police, and the Nigerian Army had been combing the forests in search of the monarch. The council chairman also personally joined the search on two occasions.
The statement further disclosed that the monarch is currently at the residence of the LGA chairman, where he is receiving medical attention after his ordeal.
