A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit challenging the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Senate.

The case, filed by Ovavu Illiyasu and nine others, sought to contest the legality of the six-month suspension handed to the Kogi Central senator for alleged misconduct. The plaintiffs argued that the suspension would leave their senatorial district without proper representation in the National Assembly.

Delivering judgment, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the ten plaintiffs had no legal standing to bring the case before the court. He held that since they were not directly affected parties in the disciplinary process, they could not challenge the Senate’s decision.
With the ruling, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension remains in force unless overturned by another competent authority.
