The Kano State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of N215.3 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.

The approval came after lawmakers deliberated on the request submitted by Governor Abba Yusuf during last week’s plenary session.

The Speaker, Jibril Falgore, said the House thoroughly reviewed the proposal before passing it into law. He assured that legislators would maintain strict oversight on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to ensure that the allocated funds are properly used.

According to the House leadership, the supplementary budget is meant to cover the operations of newly established government agencies not included in the initial budget. It will also fund school renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and ongoing urban renewal projects across the state.
With the new approval, Kano State’s 2025 budget has now grown to over N935 billion. The original budget of N719.8 billion, presented in November 2024 and tagged “Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development,” had allocated 64 percent to capital expenditure and 36 percent to recurrent costs.
The assembly emphasized that it would continue to monitor implementation closely to ensure the funds are directed toward the intended projects and contribute to the state’s development goals.
