The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a sweeping victory in the Rivers State local government elections, winning 20 out of the 23 chairmanship seats contested on Saturday.

The Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Dr. Michael Odey, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt. He confirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured the remaining three councils.

According to the official results, PDP candidates won in Obio/Akpor, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas, while APC took control of the rest.
