The Labour Party has strongly opposed the proposal to increase salaries of political office holders, describing the idea as unfair to ordinary Nigerians struggling under economic hardship.

The party, through its Interim National Publicity Secretary Tony Akeni, said in Abuja that the plan is coming at the wrong time and should be reconsidered by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
