The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against declaring any result from the Kaura Namoda South by-election that does not reflect the choice of voters.

At a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of manipulating the process and using security agencies to intimidate voters during the August 16 poll.

He alleged that the election was disrupted by violence, ballot box snatching, and harassment of voters. Despite what he described as the PDP’s clear lead, INEC declared the exercise inconclusive in five polling units — a decision the opposition claims was designed to favour the APC.

Ahead of the re-run scheduled for Thursday, Ologunagba said heavy security deployments, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Mobile Police, and DSS, had been stationed across affected polling areas in Zamfara. He described the move as a strategy to instill fear and suppress voter turnout.
According to him, intelligence reports indicate that security forces will be used to pressure INEC officials and manipulate the rerun results. He warned that such actions under President Bola Tinubu’s administration pose a threat to democracy and national stability.
“The PDP and the people of Zamfara will not accept any result that is at variance with the will of the people,” Ologunagba declared, urging President Tinubu to stop what he called an APC plot to undermine democracy.
He added that Zamfara remains a PDP stronghold, with citizens firmly backing Governor Dauda Lawal and the party.
