Philanthropist and businessman Sadiq Saleh Osude has officially declared his ambition to contest the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election, pledging to use his track record in humanitarian work to improve the state’s Human Development Index.

His campaign, tagged “Service Today, Progress Tomorrow,” will focus on expanding projects in clean water access, education, and vocational training.

Osude, founder of the SOS Foundation, has led initiatives that have touched communities in all 13 local government areas. Since 2015, the foundation has installed 60 boreholes across the state, reducing waterborne diseases, improving life expectancy, and saving residents — especially women and girls — long hours spent fetching water. The time gained has allowed more people to engage in education and economic activities.

The foundation has also provided vocational skills training to 6,000 people and awarded scholarships to 1,200 students. Development experts say such interventions directly address Nasarawa’s low ranking in a 2023 Human Development Index study by improving health, education, and income levels.
Osude’s philanthropic record, built over a decade, has earned him recognition for delivering projects that reach diverse communities regardless of ethnic or political lines. His work, he says, proves that focused interventions can transform lives, and his goal is to replicate these successes on a statewide scale through political leadership.
Observers believe his entry could shift the tone of the 2027 race, bringing a development-driven agenda shaped by hands-on experience into the political contest.
